One of the main things people tend to do when they visit Chessington is to go and enjoy the delights of Chessington World of Adventures. But if you think this is all there is to do in the area you should think again – it has plenty more surprises in store for you as well.
If you like to play golf there are a couple of good golf courses in the local area. Perhaps you could see how good your handicap is during a day’s play?
You might be surprised to learn that there is another theme park not too far away as well – Thorpe Park. If you want to take the kids away for a weekend they will never forget, why not go to one venue on Saturday and the other one on Sunday?
If the weather is good there is plenty more you can do apart from visiting Chessington World of Adventures too. The Horton Country Park is welcoming visitors to come and enjoy its surroundings throughout the year, and there is plenty to see and do whenever you go there. It is a short distance to the south east of Chessington itself, so it isn’t hard to find. There is also a nature reserve here and a chance to see amazing carpets of bluebells at the right time of year.
Epsom Common might be another worthwhile place to explore if you like getting out and about and in among nature of all kinds. This is another nature reserve but the surroundings can be very different from what you would expect from the Horton Country Park.
If you fancy a spot of shopping instead of getting out into the wilds of Chessington and the surrounding areas, you should think about exploring Hook instead. There is a small parade of shops there but the streets and history of the area are also worth exploring.
There is no doubt that the main attraction of Chessington is indeed Chessington World of Adventures. But the whole area and its surrounding streets are worth exploring if you have time on your hands as well. You may well come up with several other destinations you could see while you are there. You will realise that there is more to Chessington than the adventure park, and that there are many other places worthy of a visit while you are in the area.
