When the word ‘falls’ appears as part of a ride’s name, you know there is a good chance of one of two things happening. Firstly you could get wet (taking the meaning as water falls) and secondly there could be a big drop involved. With the Dragon Falls ride at Chessington World of Adventures, both things are very definitely true.
One of the best things about the Dragon Falls ride is that it isn’t over and done with in just a minute or two. It takes about four minutes to go round from start to finish – although we should say that you are likely to be a lot wetter when you finish than you were to start with. But of course this is one of the reasons you will probably love every second on the ride.
So what can you expect? Well once you are in your log flume you will float round a river rather gently and get to see some nice scenery along the way. But eventually you will find yourself climbing a steep track and then splashing down the other side, back into the river again.
Of course the biggest drop is saved right for the very end, and since you climb up the track and then float round in a big U turn, you will be able to see the drop opposite you before you actually go down it. You might also be able to spot any friends or family members who weren’t quite brave enough to try the ride with you!
The ride is definitely tamer than some of the roller coasters, and it is slower as well. As the river meanders round you would be forgiven for thinking it is really a lazy river, but as we all know the falls await you at the very end. This is the best part of the whole ride, but depending on how many people are riding with you, it’s possible to get drenched.
You could of course grab a raincoat or mac and wear that on the way round, but then, what would be the fun in that? Provided you are having fun on Dragon Falls, that’s really the only thing to worry about. And we are sure you will be, since the ride is designed to give you a thrill as well as plenty of time to think about the big drop that is still to come.
